Self-Care is Not a One-Time Deal, It’s An Everyday Practice for Your Well-Being

April 5, 2015 by Priyanka Leave a Comment

Do you take care of yourself everyday? Probably not. You’re busy and don’t always have the time. From my own experience, there were times when I really took care of myself.

Practice Self-Care Daily

Practice Self-Care Daily

I made myself that smoothie. I exercised daily. I meditated. I spent time with my loved ones. I slept early. I read novels. I had a drink with myself as my own company.

But then I Stopped…

I got busy, so my self-care routine fell away. I didn’t pay as much attention to myself. It started off taking out these key things from my schedule so I could fit more time working and running errands.

And before I knew it, my self-care routine had disappeared altogether.

Self-Care is Not a One-Time Deal

I became cranky and exhausted. I caught a cold. My body was responding to my over-working and not taking care of myself.

That is when I realized that doing things for myself was not a one-time thing. It was an everyday practice!

Do you forget to brush your teeth every morning? Do you shower? Do you forget to eat your meals? Chances are you don’t.

You must remember to pay close attention to your needs and desires every single day. It doesn’t even have to take away too much time from your schedule.

Drink a cup of soothing tea. Do a 5- minute meditation. Write in your journal before going to sleep. Listen to some soulful music in the morning before heading to work.

The Value of Doing a 10 Minute Meditation Daily

February 24, 2015 by Priyanka Leave a Comment

Recently, I have developed the habit to do a simple 10 minute guided meditation in the morning or before going to sleep. I mostly do them before going to sleep (in my bed ha!). I must say I sleep pretty deeply every time. On Fridays, when I don’t work, I do the meditation on my yoga mat in the morning.

Numerous Benefits of Meditation

Numerous Benefits of Meditation

I Feel Renewed and Fresh

Meditation started out to be very uncomfortable for me. I’m a go getter and my mind works lightning fast. Thoughts come and go so fast. I felt I didn’t have time to sit still and furthermore, still my mind.

After meditating daily, I actually felt the opposite. I felt rejuvenated. When I still my mind, I feel more connected to myself and in turn more grounded.

My Mind Is Clear

I could be having a great day or not, but when I meditate, my mind becomes much more clearer. My fears seem to vanish. Maybe not completely every time, but I do feel this sense of clarity. I do find that I am able to clear away the clutter and chaotic thoughts and find moments of peace and happiness in me.

Fear is Replaced with Love

My fears, doubts, and anxieties are replaced with love and faith. I begin to trust and let go more. I go with the flow.

5 Things I Am Grateful for Today!

February 24, 2015 by Priyanka Leave a Comment

Feeling grateful is a surefire way to feeling lasting happiness and peace. I thought why not take this time to exercise this. It’s the last week of February and I want to celebrate all the things I have been grateful for since 2015 began.

Feeling Grateful

Feeling Grateful

My Personal Trainer and Exercise

I am thankful for working with my personal trainer Jeremy on my health and fitness goals. I have slimmed down by 10 pounds. It’s definitely thanks to his guidance and wisdom!

I also run on the treadmill on my own at the gym and sometimes I will run outside enjoying the fresh air and looking at the beautiful trees and flowers.

Some of my greatest ideas hit me like lightning when I’m exercising. It calms me and I’m able to let off a lot of steam.

Hike at Big Basin

I’m not a hiker. I’m not much of a outdoorsy person. Ha, but the men I’ve dated have certainly been πŸ˜‰ Anyway, recently, I hiked at Big Basin. Having lived in the Bay Area all these years, only now I checked out this place.

I was spellbound. The chilled air, the freshness of the trees, the natural scent all made me marvel. I felt one and connected to the Universe. I saw abundance everywhere. And it made me still. The stillness captured my heart, you can say.

Being More in Touch with My Emotions

Thank goodness, I have been working on that part of myself. Whenever I feel resistance or blocks, I pull out my yoga mat and lie down. I meditate. Other times, I’ll lie in bed and cry my eyes out. I’ll talk to a friend. I actually confront myself about my feelings and emotions now.

To tell you the truth, it feels super liberating to be this open and vulnerable with myself.

My Wonderful Dog Raja

I love, love, and love my dog Raja! He is my everything and lights up my eyes every time I see him. Playing with him melts everything going on in my head within seconds.

More Time through My Part-Time Position

One of the best choice I made was to take on this part-time position. I have created space for more time and have filled it up with things that make me happy.

Cheers to that!

Sleeping On Time and Well Every Day Does Wonders!

February 18, 2015 by Priyanka Leave a Comment

Sleeping on time is extremely important. As a child, my parents didn’t allow me to stay past a specific time. Then, I went off to live on my own in university and suddenly sleeping became an option…

Sleeping Boosts Your Well-Being

Sleeping Boosts Your Well-Being

I stayed up late every night watching television, going out with friends, or just goofing around. It was a lovely, fun, and carefree time in my life. I even scheduled my classes to start around the late morning and afternoon time because I couldn’t wake up on time after sleeping late every night.

When I joined the real world (Haha!), then I had to become disciplined. But today, I have realized the numerous benefits of sleeping well and on time.

Boosts Your Well-Being

For one thing, you just function better. It keeps your health in balance. When you sleep on time, you will notice you’ll do everything else better.

In other words, you’ll be way more productive. I actually get more done in the day when I sleep well.

Ready to Take on the Day

I wake up with a fresh, ready to take on the world energy! I feel happy and peaceful. I feel more centered.

The days where I stay up late working or even partying, I notice how I have to drag myself out of bed. It’s not pleasant. My energy levels are not very high.

The days I sleep well, I’ll take time out to make myself a delicious smoothie. I’ll watch some television. I’ll go for a walk. I’ll have an awesome workout.

Your Subconscious Stirs Your Creativity

Another WONDERFUL benefit of sleeping? Your creativity is at an all time high. Our minds are interesting. When you are sleeping, your subconscious is stirring all sorts of thoughts and images.

Sleep creates this crystal clear clarity. You have this sharp vision. And you can use it to tap into your intuition to guide you on what steps to take. All because you sleep well!

Surround Yourself with Happy, Positive People

February 17, 2015 by Priyanka Leave a Comment

You are surrounded by all sorts of people in the workplace and your otherwise general life. You don’t always have control on who you interact with. Sometimes, you have no option, but to work with that co-worker or manager. But the times you do have some control, make the best of it.

Light Your Life with Positive People

Light Your Life with Positive People

Relationships that Nourish You

You have a choice in who you decide to maintain friendships with. You can decide who you choose to be in a romantic relationship with.

Develop relationships with people who support and uplift you. You want those relationships to nourish you. It’s kind of like eating certain foods.

When you have a greasy burger and fries, you don’t feel that great afterwards. What happens when you have a delicious, tasty meal that is filled with nutrients and health benefits? You feel fabulous!

You Thrive in A Positive Environment

People in your life are the same way. They will either cause you to thrive and blossom. Or they will cause you to wither away. Your friends and loved ones create your environment.

So make sure your sacred space is positive and nurturing.

Limit Interactions with Those Who Drain Your Energy and Spirit

What if you have no choice but to deal with specific people? Like a co-worker or relative? Well, you don’t need to cut yourself completely. Simply limit your interaction with that person.

Don’t like where a conversation is heading? Gracefully exit the conversation. Or tell the person politely you would like to talk about something else.
