Chicken Soup for the Soul Friday-Fight at a Gas Station!

March 8, 2015 by Priyanka Leave a Comment

The latest Chicken Soup for the Soul Friday is by a courageous young man.

Grand, Brave Gestures

Grand, Brave Gestures

“I was filling up gas at a gas station, when I suddenly heard loud noises and shouting. I immediately turned around to see two men at it with each other. One man was clearly physically stronger than the other. This stronger man was yelling and shoving his face into the smaller man’s face.

The fight seemed to be getting serious by the second, with both hurling abuses at one another, but I could also see the smaller man step back in fear. Many people were around, but no one did a thing. The larger man kept getting louder and stepping closer to the other guy. I realized then that a physical altercation could literally break out any second, and I was afraid this man would seriously hurt the smaller guy.

So, though I was scared, I walked up to them and literally stood in the middle, trying to calm them both, especially the larger guy. Luckily, he calmed down and both walked to their cars. And I took a huge breathe of air and resumed filling up gas. Boy, was I glad they backed out! Otherwise, I may have gotten in the middle of it…”

High School Senior Created Anonymous Compliments Page

March 4, 2015 by Priyanka Leave a Comment

I came across this article recently about a high school senior named Wilson To who created a Facebook page called “Atech Compliments”. It’s a place where anonymous, kind messages were posted about members of the student body. Students used the page to compliment their peers and simply post nice, kind things about people.

I thought it was amazing because I remember how vulnerable and insecure I felt in high school. It’s a critical time of our lives and w need to hear that we’re great in some way.

What was even more incredible was sadly bullying has been spreading across schools today and a student took the lead in creating something that could only help his peers. I hear stories from my loved ones themselves who are in high school or college about bullying stories all the time and it tears my heart. I hope every school runs something similar like what Wilson did and students take the lead.

Why Did He Create it?

He saw bullying was becoming rampant across his high school and he wanted something that could spread positivity across the school. High school is a sensitive time in a person’s life and sometimes, young people need words of kindness and assurance that can build their self-esteem in a time of questioning and vulnerability.

Is it Still There?

Yes! He ran the page secretly for a year, without revealing his identity. The idea became such a hit that even after his graduation, he trained the administrators how to run the page after him.

Check out the Full Article on this link below. Others who have ran similar initiatives are mentioned as well.

Chicken Soup for the Soul Friday! – Father / Daughter Washing Car

March 2, 2015 by Priyanka Leave a Comment

This Chicken Soup for the Soul Friday is by someone who happened to park her car and came across this sight:

Kind Gestures of Parents

Kind Gestures of Parents

“I parked my car at an apartment complex and was heading to meet a friend who lived there. Next to me, a man was washing his car. Normally, I would’ve just walked along minding my business. But suddenly, I heard soft giggles and laughter. I stopped and looked at a little girl giggling. I heard her say ‘Daddy, it’s raining!’

And then I eyed her father closely. He was dumping a bucket of water on the car to make it seem like it was raining. I couldn’t help but smile. This girl thought her father was the greatest man for making it rain. She really believed it was raining and this man was just standing there dumping water slowly to make his daughter smile.”

Chicken Soup for the Soul Friday – Anonymous Wine Bottles at Work

February 26, 2015 by Priyanka Leave a Comment

“I received a humongous box at work. It looked to be a Holiday present sent for our company. But I was extremely surprised to see the gift addressed to my name, as usually it’s sent to our company’s senior management. I called my colleague Padma over and we opened the box and were excited to see three wine bottles.

At first thought, we thought our company had gifted it to our recruitment team which has 3 members. But then realized that was not the case. I looked at the label to see who had sent the wine bottles in my name. I frowned and searched through my emails, but the name didn’t register in any way.

For a week, my colleague and I were dumbfounded on who had sent us the wine bottles. I had thrown my hands up in the air and thought maybe someone accidentally sent them to me, but either way, thanked my lucky stars as it was a great way to start the year! And, later we figured out who had sent the wine: A vendor who I had worked with a while back!” – Priyanka

Chicken Soup for the Soul Friday – Hilarious Handwritten Notes from Children

February 25, 2015 by Priyanka Leave a Comment

Here is another lovely Chicken Soup for the Soul Friday!

Cute, Handwritten Notes by Children that Make You Laugh

Cute, Handwritten Notes by Children that Make You Laugh

“During lunch time at work, I came across this article called: 30 Kids Who Wrote The Meanest Notes Ever. I Should Feel Bad…But I Can’t Stop Laughing! It literally made me smile and laugh out loud. It took me to the time when I was a child and how we say things honestly and innocently without wondering about the consequences.

I recalled the time when my father had nicknamed a particular uncle as stingy in Hindi and was apparently very annoying and stingy. I was a child then and didn’t fully understand the meaning of the term and since my father only referred to that uncle as that name at our home, I truly believed that was his real name.

Once, this uncle was over at our home and I called him that name, until my father jumped into our conversation and made some excuse. After that, my mother had chided my father for not using such nicknames in my presence.

My favorite note in this letter by a child: ‘Thank you soooo much for being my Mom. If I had a different Mom, I would punch her in the face and go find you.‘”  – Priyanka
