Did you start a nonprofit organization? What causes do you feel strongly about?

August 11, 2014 by Priyanka Leave a Comment

Question: Did you start a nonprofit organization?

Answer: No, but I sure would love to start one! Like Shivani in the book, I’ve always felt a stirring in my heart to give back and voice my support for certain causes. One cause I feel strongly about is girl’s education. A girl’s education goes a long way in how a society or country progresses.

Sponsoring a Child

A girl’s education is progress.

A girl’s education is progress.

Also, I have been sponsoring a child named Bappa in Calcutta, India for over seven years and it has been one of the most magical experiences of my life. A cheesy smile still adorns my face when I get a letter from him 🙂

Filling the Universe with a Tiny Dose of Love & Compassion…

This experience has opened my eyes to how we can contribute to the world in our own small ways. Especially in the disturbing world we live in today, if we all do our bit, we can fill the universe with a tiny dose of love and compassion which has the potential to become a sea of change. Most of all, if none of the above reasons are good enough, then you’ll be amazed at how positive it makes you feel!

Learning to be Patient

Another cause I feel strongly about is animals. I never thought I would feel this passionate about animals, but since my wonderful pet dog Raja, I’ve fallen in love with animals and feel we should protect and nurture the beautiful animals we have on this earth. I have learned to be more patient and giving from Raja and how paying attention to little things often brings me more happiness than some external yardstick.
