The practice of self care and self love is less about pretending everything is perfect and rosy. It’s more about acknowledging your flaws and how you feel every moment. It’s about getting real with yourself so you can peel back the layers and get to the crux of it.
Figure Out What You Love About Yourself
Let’s focus on the positive first. What do you love about yourself? What are your strengths? What qualities do others admire you for? What qualities do you pride yourself on?
Appreciate the goodness and beauty in you. Take pride in them and continue to harness those strengths. Take the time to acknowledge your greatness.
I look in the mirror and observe my face and body closely. I look at my eyes and acknowledge my eyes are pretty and smooth skin. I tell myself that I’m proud of my resilience and emotional strength.
Embrace Your Flaws
Pay close attention to your flaws. Your flaws are a part of you and those imperfections make you who you are. It’s all a part of your beauty and unique identity. Show them some love, too. Show love to all of you, whether it’s some part of your body you’re not fully happy with or a quality you can improve.
I have the tendency to be too hard on myself, so I try to be kind and love myself even during those moments.
Everything Kind of Just Falls Into Place
Everything falls into place when you love all of yourself, including your flaws.
