Today, I had a heart to heart talk with my best friend Karina. I’ve known her for nearly a decade. Over the years, she has been my steady source of support.
As my work wrapped up, we had scheduled a time to speak. Today was a busy day filled with calls and emails and talking to my best friend came as a refreshing change in my day.
Look to Your Friends for Guidance
This made me realize how having her present in my life has been a great boon to me. I truly am very fortunate. Now instead of dealing with things by myself, I turn to her for guidance.
If you’re feeling low or just need some sunshine in your life, then start connecting with your friends. Don’t go through them alone. Call up a friend or email him or her.
Take Time out to Nurture Your Friendships
My best friend Karina has a beautiful analogy for friendship. She feels nurturing a friendship is like growing a plant. Friendships are like plants and you need to nurture them with time and care in order for the friendship to grow.
I agree with her. Ironically, I heard back from another close friend today. She now lives in Toronto, Canada and sent me an email asking me how I was. A couple days ago, I had wished her for her birthday.
No matter how busy you are or where you are in this world, take time out to water your friendships.
