I love wearing makeup. I like dressing up and applying mascara, eyeliner, blush, eyeshadow, and the works! However, thankfully, my mother has taught me the importance of wearing minimal makeup especially in your twenties.
Here’s why!
Give Your Skin Rest
Don’t wear makeup everyday. Let your skin breathe. A good rule of thumb is to wear makeup when going out and keep your makeup routine simple the rest of the days. Generally, when I go to work, I apply light foundation or simple powder, lip gloss, and natural eyeliner.
Sometimes, I don’t even wear makeup, I just put on some moisturizer and apply chap stick to my lips. I like to keep it really simple and light when I’m working.
I’ve often been complimented on how fresh my skin looks. This is largely due to keeping my makeup to a minimal.
Let Your Natural Beauty Shine
When I say to wear minimal makeup, I don’t mean you should let yourself go. This still means being well groomed and dressing nicely.
But let your natural beauty shine. My best features are my eyes and skin, so I let their natural glow come out.
Do Yourself a Huge Favor when You’re Older
If I’m twenty-eight years old, you can guess how old my mother is. When my friends meet my mother, they are often overwhelmed by her beauty. And I’m not saying this just because she is my mother! I’ve seen random strangers look at her in awe. She looks absolutely radiant even at her age and her skin continues to glow.
I asked my mother once why. And she told me she wore minimal makeup when she was my age!
