Everyone loves compliments! But we don’t always show our appreciation to the people closest to us – our family.
Take the Time to Appreciate Your Family
Did you mother make your favorite meal? Or did your sister iron your clothes without you asking? Whether you live with them or not, you love them unconditionally, but don’t always express your appreciation verbally.
Complimenting or showing your appreciation verbally or through a gesture is a simple matter. It takes only seconds to show this love and care, but too many people don’t do this.
Improves Communication
Communication is key to having quality relationships with your family. Every family has arguments and disagreements, but there is still love, but you may not always say it. But everyone wants to feel appreciated and that they are providing value.
When you compliment a family member, you’re strengthening your relationship. Likewise, it creates easy, seamless communication between family members for not only positive matters but also critical matters.
It also encourages all family members to feel comfortable in expressing their emotions.
Notice the Reaction
I have been making it a point to show my appreciation to my loved ones. I told my mother the other day I was really thankful for her to cook my favorite meal and be there in my life. Her face lit up and her eyes sparkled. I felt overjoyed in this moment.
Have you showed your appreciation to a loved one? How did it affect your relationship? Please share with me in the comments!
