Learn to Laugh At Yourself – Lighten Up!

October 12, 2014 by Priyanka Leave a Comment

Laughter is a powerful way to be happier, decrease stress, and relax. When you stop taking things too seriously and start to laugh at yourself, you’ll notice striking changes.

Laughter is the Best Medicine

Laughter is the Best Medicine

They say laughter is the best medicine. It’s the best way to lighten up and gives you hope and courage in challenging situations. How many times have you been in an intense situation and you found something to laugh about? Did you feel better immediately afterwards?

Relaxes the Whole Body

Your body relaxes and a good feeling resonates in your heart, mind, and body. It also boosts your immune system and releases endorphins that are responsible for making you feel good overall.

Laughter also decreases stress and keeps you emotionally healthy.

Changes Your Perspective

Laughter allows you to be more spontaneous. It helps you to shift your perspective in challenging moments. In my family, we have had many arguments and if someone suddenly broke out into laughter over even something mundane, it changed the entire atmosphere. Immediately, my entire family was laughing and not remembering what we were even bickering about.

Another important thing laughter does is helps you to count your blessings. It’s easy to get sucked into negativity and look at only what’s wrong in your life, when in fact, there are many beautiful blessings.

What are Ways to Laugh During Challenging Moments?

  • Watch a Funny Television Show or Movie
  • Read Comics
  • Call a Friend who Makes You Laugh and Speak with them
  • Hang out with Your Friends who Make You Laugh
  • Spend Time with Children or Pets
  • Have a Game Night
  • Reminisce about Funny Memories with Your Family

Do you laugh at yourself? Please share with me in the comments!
