When I signed with my literary agent for my novel, I had gone to the grocery store and shopped. I’ve always loved shopping for groceries. I enjoy looking at the assortment of fruits and vegetables. I get happy and giddy like a child. I feel like I’m five years old again.
This time, I set my eyes on a banana bread mix box. I scooped it up and threw into my cart. I was filling with the desire to make banana bread and celebrate my achievement. With myself. For myself.
The Mix Was Sitting in My Kitchen For Months…
I bought the mix sometime in September of last year. It lay in my kitchen for all these past months. My previous work from home job was demanding and I ended up working too much. I got swept away and didn’t find much enjoyment.
Thankfully, I’m doing a part-time position now and striking a beautiful balance in my life. But I wondered why I had to wait to make the banana bread now.
Owned My Desire
When you have a desire, sit with it. Let it simmer in you. Say yes to your desire. And let yourself be guided to take the action. My desire was to make banana bread. It was simple.

Enjoyed Myself While Trying Something New
When I made the banana bread, I completely let go. The process was messy. My hair was messy. The mix stained my clothes. But I kept diving deeper and making the recipe. It felt incredibly relaxing and beautiful. I felt whole.
Love Your Life
Most of all, I had so much fun making the banana bread. When it was ready, I bit into it. It was delicious! A tad too sweet, but I realized how much I loved my life in that instance. It’s important to have fun while you’re living your life!
