Embrace Your Emotions Like the Beach’s Waves

September 4, 2014 by Priyanka Leave a Comment

Everyone feels a range of emotions – happiness, sadness, anger, disappointment, excitement, etc. Most of the time, people don’t know what to do with their emotions. In the fast-paced world we live in today, there seems to be no time to even feel emotions. Feel happy? Or angry? There’s not enough time! Move on to the next item on the check list!

Embrace Your Emotions

Embrace Your Emotions

Embrace Your Emotions

When you feel yourself be swept with a certain emotion, allow yourself to feel it. Accept the emotion. Even though the typical reaction is to shut yourself down and pretend you don’t feel that way. Embrace your state of mind the way the beach’s waves comes and goes.

Have you seen the way the ocean’s waves come and go? Sometimes, the waves are gentle and calm. Other times, stormy and overwhelming. Let’s say you happen to be standing right when a wave is about to come. You can stand there and let the wave carry you and you flow with it. Or you can let it overpower you, causing you to become lost in the storm. Feel whatever emotion you are feeling. Like the ocean’s waves, your emotions too pass.

Trust that Feeling

Your emotions are an indicator to how you are feeling in the present moment. Trust that feeling. Your body and heart are whispering to you. Sometimes, feeling anger, disappointment, or sadness is the only way to implement changes in your life. Awareness is the key for things to shift.

Take Care of Yourself

By being attentive to your emotions, you are being kind to yourself. Don’t feel embarrassed or ashamed about how you feel. It’s perfectly healthy and human to feel a wide range of emotions.

Have you resisted feeling a particular emotion? How do you react when you find yourself being swept away with your emotions? Please share with me in the comments.
