“You can’t find yourself in the PAST or FUTURE. The only place where you can find yourself is in the NOW ” – Eckhart Tolle
I saw this quote on a friend’s Facebook profile. It couldn’t have come in a more perfect time. With 2015 approaching, I want to go back to my old habits and plan my year month by month.
I am Resisting My Desire to Live in the Present
Even though I worked on myself a lot this year, I find my old habits and way of thinking pulling me back at times.
One of my old habits is being anxious and in action mode instead of relaxing and letting things unfold organically.
NOW is the Only Moment You Have
When you’re feeling anxious or nervous, then focus all your attention to the present moment. How do you do this? Here is a simple technique you can do anytime. Take breaths slowly and deeply. No matter what is going on in your mind, let your energy slip to your breathe instead.
If errands or erratic thoughts still enter your head, let them. Don’t resist it. The more you resist, the more they will come with force. Instead, let them fall away on its own. Let them enter and slip out of your mind like water flowing.
You’ll notice how your energy will shift. You’ll feel fresh, light, and relaxed. Stop thinking about the next minute. Next hour. Next day. Or the next month. Just fall in love with the moment in front of you.
