When I finally made the decision that I wanted to make big leaps in my life, I wondered what it would entail. I had no freaking idea, to be honest.
I read many life coaching and self development blogs during that period. The advice and tips offered were unique in some ways, but the single thing that was common across all was: Upgrading Your Mindset.
Changing Your Thoughts and Beliefs
The only way to create true change is to change your thoughts and belief patterns. You must replace doubt with faith. You must replace fear with trust. You must start thinking positive thoughts.
How do you do this? You become self aware. You start to observe all the thoughts running in your head like a by-stander. The moment you start to say something to yourself that is self-destructive and self-sabotaging, you can stop yourself.
You can replace it with something kinder and gentler.
Understand and Feel Your Fears
A lot of the self-talk we have is linked to the fears we have. It is definitely important to talk and think positively, but I don’t believe in painting affirmations over your feelings.
This is about being real and authentic. This is about doing the inner work. It’s about understanding what your fears are and feeling them. Feeling them emotionally and even the sensation it creates in your body. Once you do this and are better able to figure out the emotional motivation behind them, you will be able to upgrade your mindset.
