How to Calm Down When You are Angry

January 16, 2015 by Priyanka Leave a Comment

Do you become angry easily? Does your blood start boiling fast? Do you react fast and start yelling? If that’s you, it’s a good idea to learn some tips so you can keep a leash on your anger and calm down.

Keep Calm and Keep Your Anger in Check

Keep Calm and Keep Your Anger in Check

Don’t Act on Your First Impulse

Getting angry frequently does not serve any purpose to you. I’m not saying that you should never get angry. It’s a normal human emotion and you should feel it. But the danger is when you react to every situation.

Don’t act on your first impulse. Don’t react to every single thing or person. You must pick your battles carefully. When you show your anger to limited situations and people that actually warrant a reaction, people will also take you more seriously.

Calm Yourself Down

When you feel the emotion, calm yourself down. Let yourself feel the wave of anger and let it then subside because you can think rationally only when the anger has vanished.

Use Positive Self-Talk

Tell yourself that it’s not worth getting upset over what or who triggered you. Let it go because it takes away from your energy. This can trick you into feeling more calm.

Distract Yourself

Take a walk outside or play with your pet. You can exit the conversation or situation gracefully and speak to a close friend in confidence. You can meditate or write in your journal to avoid reacting.

Well-Being is a Deep Sense of Serenity and Fulfillment

January 13, 2015 by Priyanka Leave a Comment

“Well-being is not just a mere pleasurable sensation. It is a deep sense of serenity and fulfillment.”

Well-Being is Deep Sense of Fulfillment

Well-Being is Not Just a Passing, Pleasurable Sensation

Being in a state of happiness and peace is more than just a temporary, fleeting feeling. It’s a deep sense of fulfillment you feel every moment, even during moments that bring you pain, angst, and confusion.

Gratitude is a Daily Practice

One way to feel this deep sense of well-being is to practice gratitude daily. It’s a simple five-minute habit that completely transforms your life. Make a list of the things you’re grateful for. I do this every other day and sometimes every other week, depending on how much time I have.

It allows you to focus on all the wonderful things and people in your life, instead of the opposite.

Turn Inwards for a Deep Sense of Serenity

Most of all, well-being is not drawing happiness from your external world. Relationships and material possessions are important and bring you some satisfaction, but they will not bring you lasting happiness, until you don’t feel that deep sense of serenity in your heart and soul.

Turn inwards and be the source of what you seek.

Juicy Tips on Living On Purpose

January 4, 2015 by Priyanka 6 Comments

In my journey of living a more heart-driven life, I have started to live on purpose. Living a life on purpose means that moment by moment I dive deep into my heart for inspiration and guidance. I’m not saying I succeed always, but I have learned some simple ways to get me back to my center.

Live Your Life On Purpose

I Listen to Soothing and Romantic Music

I recently purchased some divine, gentle music on Amazon. There are tracks of water flowing and overall peaceful, calming music. I wanted something that could play to my senses and soul while I worked, but not overwhelm or disturb me that I couldn’t work. These tracks are perfect!

I also listen to a lot of slow, romantic songs. Sometimes, the songs are deeply emotional. Other times, there is a strong element of sensuality. It all just depends on my mood. I find it allows me to connect to my own femininity, sensuality, and heart.

I Write in My Gratitude Journal

I have a journal where I jot down things I’m thankful for. I try to write in it daily, but truthfully, it doesn’t always happen. Sometimes, I write every other day or a week later. I don’t push myself, whenever I have the time.

Set Aside Time for Me to Relax

This one is important. I don’t fill all my time up now with activity or action. I set aside time for me to listen to music, read, watch an episode of The Modern Family, or just nap. Or make a delicious smoothie!

Get off the Computer and Just Be

I limit my time on my computer and especially social media. Being online and checking my Facebook does not mean I’m always using my time efficiently. I want to get out there and live my life!

Read Novels and Blogs

I love reading stories and take time out to read a novel. I also read a lot of blogs by life coaches. I love reading about new ways to still the mind or connecting to my heart.

Allocate Creation Time

I also allocate specific time so I can create! I can create a new article, plot for a new novel, or new ideas in general. I’ll light some candles and get into brainstorming and creation mode at my apartment. Other times, I’ll head to a coffee shop to do it.

Squeezing In a Gym Workout to Ground Myself and Be More Productive

December 30, 2014 by Priyanka Leave a Comment

I felt lazy today. I wanted to take a nap. Usually, I would have obeyed that command, but I decided I wouldn’t give in. It was already too late into the evening and if I fell asleep, it would have been practically night.

Taking a Break Recharges You

Taking a Break Recharges You

I wanted to go to the gym, but laziness was taking me over.

I Decided To Go Anyway

I put on my gym clothes and drove to the gym. I knew once I got there, I would feel immediately better. I didn’t push myself too much at the gym. I did a brisk, light workout of about twenty minutes and drove right back.

Taking a Break Grounds and Relaxes Me

It was only twenty minutes, but I felt refreshed and raring to go. I got home and took a hot, relaxing shower. I plopped on the sofa and flipped open my laptop. I sent out a couple emails and last minute tasks I could complete before heading to sleep.

Sometimes, all I need is to take a break to ground myself. A break helps me to break the monotony and give my brain some much needed rest. This way, when I’m in work mode, I’m way more productive.

How do you ground yourself? Do you have any tips? Please share with me in the comments.

Your Body is Like a Temple – Eat Nourishing Foods and Take Care of Yourself

December 21, 2014 by Priyanka Leave a Comment

Your body is like a temple. It’s up to you to take care of yourself and be conscious of what goes into your body. In many ways, you are what you eat is true. I am working with a trainer to drop the pounds, but it’s deeper than that. I’ve learned what foods I should put into my body from my trainer and how to keep my energy levels high.

Improved the Relationship Between Myself and My Body

Ever since I started paying attention to exercising and eating healthier, my relationship towards my body has significantly improved. I’m still not there in terms of the ideal the weight and shape I want for my body. I want to become more toned, but I don’t look at myself in the mirror and cringe at my sight like I did earlier.

I am loving my body, including my flaws. I show love to even the extra flab on my body. It has done wonders to my self-esteem and I’m actually more motivated to work out intensely at the gym.

Eating More Vegetables and Fruits

I am incorporating more veggies into my diet. I eat fruits, but fruits have considerable sugar and carbohydrates, so I am conscious of exactly how much fruit I’m eating. I make veggies with my own twist, throwing together some unique dishes that delight my taste buds.

Eating More Meals Throughout the day to Fuel Me

My trainer made me realize that I’m actually eating less. I need to eat more food throughout the day. I need the energy to keep going! So I’m eating more now!

Drinking Lots of Water

Instead of drinking a soda or coffee, I drink a glass of water. It’s chilling and refreshing. My body is beautiful and in order to be the best version of myself, I drink what energizes me and is nutritious.
